Enjoyed reading this and actually it has reflected to me that actually this is one of the first years I have felt the balance has been just right. We did a few local village Christmas things and one ‘big’ thing that was a light trail we all loved... and I had three meals out with groups of friends over the build up which felt just perfect. I definitely want to get more organised with gift buying and also wrapping next year as this has been my main stressor... and not booking an online supermarket slot because I hate supermarkets at Christmas!!!!

This sounds perfect ❤️ I love it when you realise that a scaled back season is just right for you. And I’m with you re. the supermarket slots - I wonder when they open?! I need to set a reminder for November 2024!!

“As a rule, whatever I think I’ll be up for should generally be slashed by at least a third.”

This is for life, not just for Christmas!

Thank you for another relatable post, Chloe x

Chloe, I should be sad about my Christmas day which was the fourth in a row impacted by Covid but I actually loved it! I think I'm ready to let go of festive expectation and build-up. Ready to accept it as it is. Thanks for your reflections – it's so valuable to do this work and share it for others to see themselves and their experiences more clearly.

ah Lindsay, I’m so sorry about another COVID Christmas but delighted that it didn’t feel disastrous. I love the idea of being ready to let go of the expectations, I would like to emulate that! Not just for Christmas but for every day.
